NuclearCraft: Neoteric Fission Reactor Design Generator

by cyb0124 (modified by miclol), source
This tool generates a fission reactor design that maximizes effective power output, breeding speed or efficiency. This page is for NuclearCraft: Neoteric v1.1.2-v1.2.0, ≥v1.2.3-rc, and Monifactory v0.11.3-v0.12.6, ≥v0.12.9. For the original version of NuclearCraft, click here.
Step 1: Input the core (interior) size of the reactor: × ×
Step 2: Click on the fuel you want to use in the table below. Alternatively, you can manually enter the fuel data in the textboxes below.
Fuel Base Power: FE/t
Fuel Base Heat: H/t

If you're playing Monifactory v0.11.3-v0.11.5 and using LEB-248, click here once.
Step 3: If you want to limit the usage of a type of block, enter the maximum number allowed in the table below. Enter zero to completely disable that block. You can hover over the acronym to see the full name of each block. Active coolers are disabled by default. You can enable them by removing the zeros. NOTE: Irradiators are not supported.

Step 4: Load the cooling rate data by clicking on one of the following modpack configs: NC:N v1.1.2-v1.2.0 (Moni v0.11.3-v0.12.6)  NC:N ≥v1.2.3-rc (Moni v0.12.9)  Moni ≥v0.13.0. Alternatively, you can enter the data yourself. Passive cooling rates are in the tooltip of each cooler item. Active cooling rates are in JEI. If you're playing on Monifactory, click here.
Step 5: Load rule presets by clicking on of the following modpack configs: NC:N v1.1.2-v1.2.0 (Moni v0.11.3-v0.12.6)  NC:N ≥v1.2.3-rc (Moni v0.12.9)  Moni ≥v0.13.0. Alternatively, you can input the rules of each heat sink yourself, following the same format seen in config/Nuclearcraft/heat_sinks/! README.TXT but without the quotation marks, as well as shortening the dependencies as above. If a check for reactor casing(s) is required, use () as substitution. See the exisiting presets for clarification.

Step 6: If you want the generator to factor in the biome you are building this in, select the biome from the dropdown menu below. Otherwise, leave the dropdown and textbox as is. Alternatively, you can manually enter the biome temperature in the textbox below.

Step 7: Load the config data by clicking on one of the following modpack configs: NC:N v1.1.2-v1.2.0  NC:N ≥v1.2.3-rc  Moni v0.11.3-v0.12.6  Moni ≥v0.12.9. Alternatively, manually input the config data yourself. All config values can be found in either common.toml or fission.toml in the NuclearCraft config.

Step 8: Adjust the options below and click “Run” to start the optimization.

The most efficient reactor doesn't produce the most power. To get a efficient reactor that can still generate lots of power, you should optimize for power while limiting the cell count using the “Max Allowed” box for []. To get the ideal cell count, divide the fuel's base processing time by the time you want a fuel to last. Enabling symmetry and/or limiting block counts often speeds up the algorithm. The algorithm uses fixed seed: different runs will always yield the same results unless there is an update to the algorithm (last update: 28/7/2025).
You can use Forgematica to automate the building of your reactor. To do so, download the schematic and put it in the schematics folder of your Minecraft instance. Note that Forgematica also needs MaFgLib to run.
Alternatively, you could also use Building Gadgets to automate the building of your reactor by copying the BG String and pasting it in the Template Manager to create a template.
Note: in Chrome, this tab won't run in background! If you want to switch to other tabs, drag this tab out as a dedicated window and don't minimize it.
